Ms. Hernandez has been in the financial industry for over twenty years, primarily in the Money Transfer and credit card payment services industries. She has extensive experience in leading support operation services and has held several senior operations positions including: Vice President of Operations at Vigo Remittance Corp., Vice President of Credit Card Operations for Chevy Chase Bank in Maryland, and Senior Manager for Visa International San Mateo, California.
In 2010, as part of the Sr. Management Team led by Mario Trujillo and
continuing their 2007 strategy of becoming one of the largest and the best electronic funds transfer companies; Ms. Hernandez participated in the search, planning, fundraising and execution of forming Money Transfer Acquisition Inc. (MTAI) and successfully completed the acquisition of DolEx Dollar Express, Inc. ("DolEx®") and United Europhil ("Europhil") in May 2010. Both DolEx and Europhil are leading money transfer companies operating in the US and Spain markets, primarily serving the Mexico and Latin America corridors. This acquisition was carried out in partnership with Institutional Private Equity Investors, led by Palladium Equity Partners, Prudential, Adams Street Capital and Parish Capital. In February 2011, Ms Hernandez was appointed Chief Operations Officer for DolEx Dollar Express Inc. ("DolEx®"). Her responsibilities now encompass: Call Center Operations, Information Technology, Compliance, Agent Receivables, and Agent on-boarding. She is key in leading the execution of priorities as defined by the various business leaders; with a focus on sales and business development.
In 2008, Ms. Hernandez joined the Management team that acquired Remesas Quisqueyana, Inc. (RQI®) and served as VP of Operations. She immediately began the evaluation, organization, planning and leading of the potential outsourcing of RQI's Customer Care Center and Telephone based product. Her decision to outsource Customer Care resulted in a direct and immediate cost savings to the company's bottom line. Additionally, she coordinated and led the relocation of RQI's new headquarters from New York City to Lawrenceville, Georgia (a suburb of Atlanta). This included planning with and managing the multiple vendors assisting with the physical layout, wiring, telephony and furnishing of the premises. She also led the planning and coordination of the relocation of more than 25 employees and their families from the New York City area to the Atlanta, GA area. Ms. Hernandez was appointed Chief Compliance Officer for RQI in 2009. In her additional role as CCO, she assumed the responsibility of providing guidance on issues relating to all regulatory and compliance matters in accordance with federal and state laws & regulations. She continues to oversee all areas of compliance, including but not limited to training, monitoring, licensing, regulatory reporting and record keeping.
From 2003 to 2007 she served as Vice President of Operations for Vigo Remittance Corp., one of the largest privately held money transfer company in the industry. Ms. Hernandez oversaw the Customer and Agent Care Divisions, touching all aspects of the agent and transaction cycle. Under her leadership, Vigo held the highest respect in the industry for its outstanding and personalized agent and customer service. She led her teams through the development and deployment of Vigo's online POS system. Ms. Hernandez and her departments were consistently recognized year after year for the high degree of professionalism and excellent service within the industry. After Vigo became a subsidiary of Western Union in 2006, Ms. Hernandez was instrumental in the permanent outsourcing of the back office operations to Mexico and Costa Rica.
Ms. Hernandez is a Cuban American, fully bilingual and bi-cultural. She graduated from The University of Maryland at Baltimore County with a BA in Language Arts and Linguistics and a Minor in Business Administration (Management).
